Located in New Iberia, La., the Office of Family Support is a state division that provides child care, adoption and foster care services. The division administers the Food Stamp Program, which is a federal program that provides financial assistance for low-income individuals and families to purchase food items. Its child support enforcement services include paternity establishment and the collection, modification and distribution of support orders. In addition, the Office of Family Support offers child support and counseling services. The division is a part of the Louisiana Department of Social Services, which operates through information and support services, human resources, and planning and budget divisions. The department offers evaluation, job placement, counseling and training-related services to individuals with visual impairments. It provides vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.
