General Info
Stuart Lathers Associates is a small, highly skilled and efficient architectural firm organized in 1993 to provide architectural, engineering, and planning services to residential, commercial and institutional clients. Our office is located in New Haven, Connecticut. Stuart Lathers Associates specializes in the design of well-researched and rigorously-detailed buildings. Through adherence to the traditions of design and construction detail, our buildings not only withstand, but are enhanced by the passage of time. Throughout the process, we strive to maintain simplicity and continuity as fundamental guiding principles. Our work is founded upon the belief that even the most contemporary buildings remain essential objects of human design and craftsmanship. Successful architecture is the result of intensive effort, personal responsibility, and wholehearted commitment on the part of all members of the project team. It requires active collaboration between client, project design team, contractor, and all construction tradesmen. Engagement in the process of construction practices is essential to this end. The small size and accountable staffing of our firm ensure direct principal involvement in all aspects of a project's development. This intensive approach allows greater attention to the details of architectural service, resulting in buildings that, from overall concept to minute detail, are refined, unified, and consistent. We welcome the challenge of existing conditions. The object of renovation work can be to allow the new to appear as if it has always been a part of the existing, or it can be to design an addition with a discrete aesthetic that complements or, in some cases, augments the original architecture. Stuart Lathers Associates has been involved in many renovation and expansion projects, incorporating contemporary and traditional approaches to architecture.
