Established in 1981, the Atlantic Community Health Center started in a small, rented building and now occupies more than 5,000-square-foot space. Located in Oak Hall, Va., the center offers health education, pharmacy assistance and outreach services. It provides visitation services by part-time pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners. The Atlantic Community Health Center is a part of the Eastern Shore Rural Health System, which is a federally qualified community health organization. The system offers information on diabetes, weight loss and smoking cessation. Its facility features an emergency area, radiology center and urgent care treatment rooms. The Eastern Shore Rural Health System is accredited by The Joint Commission.
