Matt’s Computer Service was created in early 2011 in response to stories from family and friends about how slow their computer was running and that they were going to purchase a new one. From there, more stories poured in as I fixed more computers and heard how Geek Squad would quote customers astronomical prices to fix the WRONG thing. My goal with Matt’s Computer Service is to take an industry with lots of confusion and make it as simple as changing your oil. Your computer, and most technology consumers buy, is just like owning a car. How well you maintain your car depends on how long it will last. The exact same thing goes for your computer or laptop. From the date of purchase a new computer/laptop should last you 5-7 years depending on what the primary use of the computer is. But you also need to know WHAT to purchase when you are buying a new computer. Those $300 laptop/desktop deals? Don’t expect much room for upgrading and don’t expect the latest and greatest components. In fact, building your own custom computer is much cheaper and will get you exactly what you want; something Dell and HP can’t afford to offer you. Matt’s Computer Service will start offering new purchase consulting for its customers for a fraction of what it would cost to buy the wrong equipment. I do not have a storefront. While this may make people suspicious or worried it accomplishes two things. First it allows me to charge the absolute lowest rate possible since my expenses are only my time, travel, and other miscellaneous costs. Second, it allows me to work all over Long Island. I am completely mobile. I offer free pick up and drop off service within 15 miles of Nesconset, NY. Outside of that area I charge a nominal pick up and drop off fee of $29. Our diagnostic fee is $20; and if you elect to hire us for your computer repairs we will credit the diagnostic fee towards your bill.
