General Info

Over the years, I have come to realize that the greatest trap in our life is not success, popularity, or power, but self-rejection. Success, popularity, and power can indeed present a great temptation, but their seductive quality often comes from the way they are part of the much larger temptation to self-rejection. When we have come to believe in the voices that call us worthless and unlovable, then success, popularity, and power are easily perceived as attractive solutions. The real trap, however, is self-rejection. As soon as someone accuses me or criticizes me, as soon as I am rejected, left alone, or abandoned, I find myself thinking, "Well, that proves once again that I am a nobody." . I am no good... I deserve to be pushed aside, forgotten, rejected, and abandoned. Self-rejection is the greatest enemy of the spiritual life because it contradicts the sacred voice that calls us the "Beloved." Being the Beloved constitutes the core truth of our existence. On that note, on the picture on the left, I was self rejected almost every day. I took it at ease, and didn't let it get the best of me. Although I stood strong on my behalf.. I was picked on furiously at almost every school I went to for the way I looked, and how thin I was. This picture on the left took place my junior year in high school on winter break of December of 2011, and I was at my all-time lowest in my self confidence, with not having many friends at a whole new school, and my goal was to just to make it.. & I did. On the picture on the right I was a new man. I finally had gained strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which I really stopped to look fear in the face of judgment. I was finally able to say to my myself, 'I have lived through this horror, and I can take anything that comes my way".
