Founded in 1946, Our Lady of Sorrows School is a Catholic, educational preparatory school that enrolls more than 550 students in grades kindergarten through eight. It teaches various subjects, such as math, religious studies, language arts, Spanish, science, English, social studies, music, arts and crafts, and physical education. The school has athletic teams for cross-country, volleyball, track and field, basketball, tennis and soccer. It also organizes extracurricular activities, such as band, choir, drama, student council and yearbook. The school facility includes a fully equipped gymnasium, science, arts and computer laboratories. Its library has a large collection of books on various topics, magazines, newspapers, and other audiovisual reference materials. The school is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department, and is a member of the National Catholic Education Association and South Texas Junior High League. Our Lady of Sorrows School is located in McAllen, Texas.
