Founded in 1991, Musitek Corporation develops and publishes music scanning and notation software. Its two-year research effort led to the development and release of MIDISCAN for Windows, the world's first commercial music-scanning software. Musitek then focused on integrating its music-scanning technology with computer-based music scoring, engraving and MIDI sequencing. These efforts lead to the release of SmartScore for Windows and Macintosh. Where MIDISCAN was essentially 'Scan-and-Play', SmartScore evolved to become an indispensable tool for transcribing, part extraction and merging, as well as playback and reprinting of optically captured sheet music and MIDI files, MIDI recording and MIDI sequencing. Musitek products are represented through a network of distributors and dealers worldwide. Musitek Corporation is based in Ojai, Calif.
