General Info
Welcome to WSACC Website The Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) is an independent, incorporated, public body funded by user fees with no taxing authority supporting five jurisdictions in North Carolina: Cabarrus County, the Cities of Concord and Kannapolis, and the Towns of Harrisburg and Mount Pleasant. WSACC is the primary planning agent for water and sewer facilities, provides wholesale wastewater transportation and treatment for its organizing jurisdictions, and provides reservoir management for some, or all, of its jurisdictions. WSACC was awarded the Public Sector Star certification by the North Carolina Department of Labor Commissioner, Cheri Berry, in February of 2010. This certification is a program where the North Carolina Department of Labor recognizes workplaces with exemplary occupational safety and health programs. WSACC is the 13th Public Sector Star site in North Carolina. The benefits of being a STAR organization include: improved employee motivation to work safely leading to better quality and productivity; reduced workers' compensation costs; recognition in the community; and improvement to safety programs through internal and external review. WSACC Receives NACWA Awards WSACC received the Platinum Peak Performance Award for the Rocky River Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Gold Peak Performance Award for the Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Peak Performance Awards program presented by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) recognizes public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records in the 2009 calendar year. The Platinum Peak Performance Award pays special tribute to a facility that has received Gold Awards for five consecutive years. A Gold Award represents 100 percent NPDES permit compliance for an entire calendar year. Both facilities had perfect compliance for the year of 2009. Compliance with the NPDES Permit helps to ensure the protection of the water quality in Rocky River below the Rocky River Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
