Gary came to my rescue when my car wouldn't start in Gretna. I am from Plaquemine, which is almost two hours away. There was no way I was getting home anytime soon unless someone could drive out to me and replace my alternator, which is exactly what Gary did promptly, efficiently, and for a reasonable price. He saved me the money I'd spend getting my car towed to a shop and the time I'd waste sitting there all day waiting for them to do the work.



Gary was in and out in about 30 or 45 minutes and was professional the entire time. He actually accompanied me inside of a car parts dealer to help me buy the correct alternator for my car, which I thought was very gracious of him. Gary was extremely thorough while working. He ran a variety of diagnostics and made sure everything was in proper working order before he left (instead of peeling out as soon as everything was installed, haha).



My 2-hour drive home was problem free and I have experienced no issues since. I highly recommend Gary if you catch yourself in a bind and need a qualified automobile technician to meet with you on a moment's notice and do a stellar job.

I called Gary Van Pelt when my alternator belt broke. Gary answered the phone and after explaining what was needed he said he would price the part and call me back. He called back within 5 minutes with a price which I accepted. He said he would be at the house by 10:00am and was very prompt. When he got to the house he showed me an additional belt that was also frayed. I told him to replace that belt as well. He had brought the part with him in the event that the belt needed replacement so did not have to go back to the parts store. There was quite a bit involved in fixing both belts and he did a great job. He saved me from having my car towed to the repair shop which would have cost me at least $100 and from losing an entire day waiting for the car to be fixed. Time was important to me as I was leaving in two days for a long trip. I would certainly recommend Gary to anyone and would definitely use him again if the need arises.

I have been through a "journey" with an old pick up truck. Most mechanics put up the "Closed" sign when they see me coming! lol. OR they see dollar signs. Gary Van Pelt did neither! First, he was timely. He answered the phone when I first called (important). He was honest about when he'd be able to come out to the house. He came when he said he'd come and he called before he came. OK. Substantively he was excellent. He diagnosed the problem (a wiring starter issue). Additionally, he knew we had put the starter on, and so when he found another problem he thought my fiance could fix, he didn't try to get MORE money out of us, when he explained that it was something we would be able to fix ourselves! Amazing. Most mechanics see a money pit and are happy to keep bleeding us! He was knowledgeable, patient (explaining to me what needed to then be explained to my fiance) and professional. Additionally, while not being cheap, I feel the price was good for his experience and ability to fix it in our driveway. I have locked him into my phone and would DEFINITELY call him again, and recommend him highly!!
