General Info
I am William (Bill) Kidd, professional piano tuner/technician. In addition to piano tuning and repairs, I offer complete rebuilding, player piano conversions and reed organ rebuilding. My customers range from beginning students with home pianos to professional pianists on the concert stage. I tune and service many pianos for churches in my area, from small country churches with one piano to large city churches with numerous pianos.I am factory trained by PianoDisc and Pianomation to install modern MIDI self-player kits. Practically any piano can be converted to be a self-playing piano with today’s modern conversion kits.I am a second generation Piano Tuner. I learned the profession from my late father, J. Lawrence Kidd. He tuned pianos in the same area that I now service. I grew up working in his piano shop and riding with him to numerous tunings around Mississippi and Alabama. He also arranged for me, at the tender age of 14, to work in the J. Rigg Vaughn Piano Co. shop. I worked there after school and weekends throughout high school and college.While in high school I began learning the piano trade and also studied electronics so that I could service electronic organs that were just being introduced to the music world. For a number of years I wore both hats, servicing electronic organs and pianos. I recently turned the organ service business over to a friend and am now a full-time Piano Technician.
