Keith Bovenschen School, located in Warren, Mich., is a part of the of the Macomb Intermediate School District and provides educational services for students with moderate to severe cognitive impairments. It offers education, support and enrichment services to children 3 to 26 years of ages who are suffering from cognitive impairments. It teaches functional skills focusing on various areas, such as self-help, vocational, recreation, general community services, and functional academics. It also offers specially designed literacy programs, such as News 2 U, Scholastic Weekly Reader, Handwriting Without Tears and the Book-It program. It also provides instruction in various areas, such as communication, art, cooking and motor activities. It also organizes various events and extracurricular programs, including the Special Olympics and Water Fun Day. The school additionally provides physical education, consultation services, psychologists, social workers, and physical, occupational and speech therapists. It also has a parent-teacher organization.
