General Info

Karen was born and raised in Michigan. A graduate of Michigan State University with a BS Degree in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology.After college graduation, Karen moved to Hawaii to work as a Substance Abuse Counselor, working with Vietnam soldiers as they returned to the US. After moving to North Carolina in 1973, she spent the next 23 years as a Social Worker, specializing in working with disabled adults. Her artistic nature even led her to starting a stained glass business, which she still operates today. She has received a number of Artist Awards for her work.For several years starting in 1989, Karen facilitated Critical Incident Stress Debriefings, working with emergency response providers. She even worked in New York City after the tragedy on September 11th. Karen has been a member of the NC Emergency Response Massage Team, as well as a Mental Health Facilitator for Debriefings, and a Family Assistance Team member of an International Disaster Management Company.Karen has always had an interest in alternative forms of Healing and has studied Yoga, Meditation, Nutrition and Karate. For years, Karen has been trained to work with Essential Oils, Aromatherapy, Reiki Healing and Tuning Fork Work.Karen has done special education and Training in several Specialty Therapeutic Services, including Swedish Massage, Cranio-Sacral Therapy -Levels I and II, Somato-Emotional Release, Matrix Energetics, Matrix Energetics,, Lymph Drainage Massage, Sports Massage, Pre-Natal Massage, Fibromyalgia Massage Therapy, Hot Stone Massage and many more.
