The week of October 18, I went to the Norwalk courthouse to file an answer. It was apparent that I was struggling to figure out the process and Jasper saw me and approached me saying that he could help me file and he would give me a discount to process the paperwork. In desperation to get the papers filed I agreed and thought he was being helpful. On October 18 I paid him $250 in cash at his office and was given a receipt for the payment. On October 19 he went to file the "answer" paperwork with the court and it was immediately rejected because the plaintiff had already processed the paperwork but the system had not been updated. At that time he filed a fee waiver and that too was voided. Later, in looking at the paperwork he tried to process he made up facts that were untrue. Jasper reported back to me and asked for an additional $100 in cash to file a different document. He insisted that I meet him at a gym to give him the money and he never issued a receipt. On October 25 Jasper filed a "motion to set aside the default" and went into the system to reserve a date for my court appearance. He notified me that my court date was November 29 at 8:30 am and I contacted my place of work and took the day off. On November 29 I go up to the courthouse and find that my name is not on the docket. I ask the courtroom clerk and she researches and finds nothing stating that I ever had a court date on the books. She suggests that I go downstairs and speak to a supervisor. I spoke to a supervisor and she did some digging. She found that the "motion to set aside judgment" was never confirmed therefore an actual court date was not issued for my case. She further explained that had this been confirmed there would be a receipt number on the document and there was not a receipt number on my paperwork. She went on to explain that the online reservation system works as a reminder to reserve a date but if the date is not processed correctly and linked to the date the system will send reminders but it does not mean the paperwork was processed and confirmed. It was also at this time that she stated that the fee waiver that Jasper Jackson swears were valid was rejected on October 19 with the first set of paperwork and that it would have needed to be refiled. Looking deeper into what Jasper Jackson filed or was supposed to file, it had statements about rat poisoning when my case was a credit card case and had absolutely nothing to do with rats or poisoning. I've made several attempts to retrieve my money from Jasper, continuing to explain all of his errors and not receiving what was paid for but he refuses to refund me. He wanted a third attempt at processing this paperwork and given his inability I just want my money refunded. On Tuesday, December 4 I spoke with Jasper again and he said that on Thursday, December 6 he would issue a full refund if I met him in person. By Wednesday, December 5 he called to tell me he was only refunding me $50 of my $350. When I tried to call him he dodged my calls, my wife called upset and he hung up on her. On December 6 I finally got to speak with him again and he said he spoke to the court and he will only refund me $150 of my $350 and said I needed to provide him with the paperwork that he drew up because he does not have copies of his own paperwork with all of the incorrect statements. I found that strange so I questioned it and now he does not want to refund me the $150 either. Given the made up statements, he outlined in both sets of paperwork (October 19 and 25) he would have had me under fire immediately in court for lying and not having correct cause. I know I will never see my $350 again, but I don't want anyone else to fall victim to unethical business practices.
