Would "NOT" recommend Jim White to appraise your home.

I decided to sell my parents all brick home, with 1.5 acres and located on Coffeen Lake. I wanted to get an appraisal done on it first. I found a company in Greenville, IL and hired them to do the appraisal. Once done, we were a little surprised with what the appraisal amount came back at, however accepted it.

The bank the new buyers selected to get their loan through, had to use Harpole & White Appraisal Company to appraise this same identical brick home on Coffeen Lake. Jim White did the appraisal and appraised it $35,000.00 less than the appraiser I used. Now me, the seller of the home, had this same identical brick home appraised less than two months before Jim White appraised it. Jim Whites appraisal was unfair and he compared his to three other homes that looked like modular homes and no brick at all. They in no way compared to my parents brick home or the great location it was in.

I have heard from two other people living in the Hillsboro, IL., area that he did this same thing to them when they tried to sell their home. The people that wanted to buy their home also used Jim White... per the bank, to do their appraisal.

Again, Jim White should "NOT" be in the business of appraising homes. Get Out!!!!!!

Do not use this companies services. Me and my wife hired Jim White to do an appraisal on our house as a preliminary measure to determine if we wanted to sell. He rescheduled twice and then was late to the appointment. Was unfriendly and was very difficult to work with. Wouldn't answer questions or return calls. In addition, the appraisal took over a week to be completed from the inspection date! Absolutely terrible appraisal company.
