My vehicle was stolen from me and involved in an accident. The state police apparently called Cross Country Automotive to the scene to tow my car which was totaled. When I called them, I received an attitude on the phone by one of the employees who was annoyed that I wanted to pick up my vehicle rather than just leaving it with them and picking up my stuff. I knew my car still had a value and because I was a female, they thought I would just leave it with them. Once they stop trying to talk me into leaving it, I asked for the bill. After a long hold wait, she came back on the telephone and gave me a ridiculous price to pick up my car which had only been in their custody for about 17 hours. I had to schedule time to meet with the driver. When I arrived, his bill was even higher than what I was told on the telephone. He was also incredibly rude and disrespectful to me and my tow truck driver who was there to pick up the vehicle. What a racket they have going. Completely unprofessional and totally price gouged me.

I would give no stars but that was not an option. Their tow truck driver stole multiple items from the vehicle including a handicapped placard. Who steals from someone when they already had such a traumatic event and loss? The car was ransacked while in their possession, the glove compartment was broken into and there was more damage to the side door when I went to see it a week later. When I informed the manager/owner he said that it was not possible for his people to have taken anything because there was cameras and dogs. Someone was clearly in the car to open the glove compartment that was damaged, someone was in there to steal the items that were in the car at the time of the accident and someone was in there to search and ransack and move every item that was in the car, and in any compartment that was closed. Worst experience with these people. If you want your items stolen, then feel free to use them.

Couldn't be more rude. Don't give them the least bit of consideration unless you want to be treated like garbage. Condescending. Rude. All around simply disgusted with the manner I was treated. If I could vote 0 stars I would.

Poor Service

I was taken aback by the poor service received at this towing company. It was the antithesis of hospitality and it helps to reduce the possibility of good group dynamics. The lady who works around the counter reminded me of the study by Bandura exploring aggressive behavior. She not only called me a drug user, but she also treated me like a criminal. She was up in my face and I told her that I was scared. Also, she repeatedly threatened me to call the cops and get me arrested.I was so scared. I had an "epiphany" moment because I suddenly realized the unequal power relations between us. In fact, they communicate frequently with the police dept. to rectify problems with towing. Consequently, everyday people's lives are affected because of these persons who abuse their authority and treat members of minority groups as criminals. Importantly, the owner of this establishment seems to be a reasonable man, even though too tempers get the best of them. However, in terms of property damages this towing company is very meticulous. I think they sell cars too. A aggressive approach is incorrect for a towing company to repeat

because a majority of people who have gotten their car towed know that taking crap from a tow company that towed after getting their towed is not cool and it hinders good group dynamics and social interaction.

horrible customer service!

my car had gotten towed by their company and so I went down to their lot to pick it up. I called the number I had received and talked to the owner who said that someone would be right with me. After 10 minutes I call again and he says that he see's me on the security cameras and someone will be down in a moment. When no one arrives I attempt to call the number again and I am almost positive they are screening my calls and finally picks up...after another 30 minutes someone finally comes! So I talk to the guy and tell him I understand he was out but I would have appreciated a time table of when he-or someone would be able to help me get my car. He VERY rudely responds that it wasn't his problem it was mine because I should have been aware of where I was parking-yes I already realize that and did not say anything about the fact that they towed the car. He then proceeds to question me asking how much I was told it would be to receive my car, when I responded I'm not positive I couldn't hear all that great but I think he said $120 and I ask why he asked me he says that he wanted to see if I would lie to him. First off, whose business is it of yours to question me like I'm on trial and see if I'm an honest person. Secondly, just give me my car!

To top it all off this location was in one of the sketchiest places in Hartford the business looked like an old warehouse and I was beginning to worry that I was in danger-not a good way to be alone without a car!

So if you can help it, find ANY OTHER SERVICE TO TOW YOUR CAR!

I have also recently run into this company as they towed my car from a building hear there location. They were so unreasonable and hard to deal with. We tried paying with a credit card and check and they only insisted on cash which tells me they are not reporting this to the government. The police should get involved in this.

DO NOT USE If you're a property owner & need towing services unless you want your tenants harassed

We recently rented an apartment in downtown Hartford CT. The first day they towed our car because we did not have a sticker. We visited their office to show them the sticker the next day because we were told we would be reimbursed with a sticker (proof of residence/parking). We weren't reimbursed. They came back later that night & towed it again, what seem to be on purpose. The sticker was not on the window yet but the receipt from the previous day tow was. We were told the receipt would prevent towing for two days. Also, this was a vehicle that they had just towed the day before from the same location with out of state plates, easy to recognize, reinforcing our belief that the second towing was intentional. They were unwilling to negotiate even the second days towing. I asked to speak to the owner but haven't heard back. $280 later I've lost respect for their company & their business related tactics. I urge you to seriously consider if this is whom you'd like to do business with...
