STAY AWAY FROM CLEAR RIVER FUEL, service is HORRENDOUS! We were loyal customers for 10+ years until today (1/2/18) when they betrayed us & *willfully* left us without heat during a bitterly cold spell. We've always been on auto-delivery so don't pay much attention to the tank level. But on Sunday morning 12/31, I noticed it was nearly empty.CR's website boasts "7/24 Service Availability", Facebook page lists Hours as "Always Open" & Google showed Sunday hours as 8 AM-5 PM, so I called & left a message that we were almost out & needed immediate delivery. No response by early afternoon so sent a Facebook message & email. Still no response, called & left another message at 4:45 PM. Since it was New Year's Eve, every oil co we called was either closed or wouldn't deliver to us since we weren't already customers.Our only option was to make multiple trips to gas station for diesel (in -3 degrees & dark), ended up covered in diesel fuel & nearly frostbitten! Heard nothing the next day (1/1) & had to go through the whole ordeal again. Meanwhile bathroom pipes froze (first time ever) because we had to keep the heat down so we wouldn't run out of oil. 7:30PM finally heard from CR about delivering next morning. We weren't sure we wanted to continue as customers since they left us to freeze & asked to speak with Dan (owner) first about how he'd make the situation right. Shortly after, we decided we needed oil ASAP either way so left a voicemail saying yes we want a delivery & please have Dan call us. Next AM while dealing with plumber & frozen pipes, CR called to tell us that Dan no longer wanted us as a customer & would not deliver any oil!Dan knew we'd have a hard time finding a new company this week, due to the extreme cold/high demand for oil. But unconscionably he *vindictively* threw us out in the cold! Fortunately we found Viking Oil in W. Hartford, they rerouted a driver & within *30 minutes* we had a full tank at a better price than CR's! Thanks Viking!
