Extremely Rude

I was "phone shopping" for the best price on a chimney sweep and came across reviews for Classic Chimney Sweeps - they were positive and negative boasting a good price but a rude technician. I believe that good companies can occasionally have bad reviews, so I called anyway. The man (David) who answered the phone was rude right from the start. He acted like I was an idiot every time I asked a question, even when it was something as logical as "Are your chimney caps galvanized or stainless steel?" He laughed at me and told me if I wanted to go buy "crap" I could go to Lowe's. Obviously, I didn't want to buy crap, I just wanted to know what the chimney cap was made of! After several more painfully demeaning and dismissive comments he "graciously" told me that while they don't usually come "that far" (20 minutes travel distance from his Raleigh office) that he would if I couldn't find anyone in my area. At that point I knew I could find someone else. I will probably pay a few extra dollars for the company I've chosen, but at least I won't be verbally berated for asking someone to sweep my chimney.

Its funny that out of the nearly 400 chimneys I swept in 2008 and countless contacts with customers regarding price and availability through the season I have this negative review from someone who wanted pricing regarding our services and products. In order to adequately price our services and products we need information regarding the perspective clients needs based on the type of system thay have. Occasionally the client will not know what they have as a system and through a series of questions I can usually conclude what their needs are. In this case I believe the client became frustrated with the questions and must have gotten mad. Certainly It is never our intention to upset folks that want help. It has always been our policy to be as thorough and honest as possible with our customers. She must have misunderstood my response regarding the type of material our caps were made of and if that made her feel like an idiot I am sorry. I am sure I explained that we did not buy lower quality caps at Lowes and re-market them to our customers, but that was an option for her since we did not service her area. I pride myself on being able to communicate effectively with customers and people in general. At the Classic Chimney Sweeps, and as a CSIA Certified Chimney Professional, I offer a very high standard of service and products and I know that we provide that caliber of service through countless referrals, testimonials, and 1000's of satisfied customers. Unfortunately the gas crunch last year required us to limit our work areas which I have never done before. Apparently this potential customer lived outside the Wake county,Durham county, Chapel Hill-Carboro areas that I have been serving since 1988.I want to help all those who call from Selma and Wilson and Pittsboro, Sanford and the other areas we are not able to service profitably and I am sorry for that. Anyone reading this can count on a positive experience from the time I answer your call to the time we leave your home and I guarntee your satisfaction. If we rubbed all customers the wrong way we would not still be in business 21 years later. Again I am sorry this caller thought we were rude as that was not my intention.

Great service at an affordable price

Mr. David Lamm was prompt, affordable, did a great job, and provided lots of helpful education. No pressure. He went above and beyond when he completed the job and helped me assemble a stove that I had purchased to use as a fireplace insert. I definitely plan to continue to use his services and would reccomend him to anyone who needed chimney work or help with installation of stove.
