Founded in 1977, Citizens Assisting and Sheltering the Abused also known as CASA, is a private, nonprofit organization that serves the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The organization features education, referral and safety planning programs. It offers anger management, crisis intervention and housing services for individuals and families involved in various domestic violence situations. CASA also features behavioral care and conflict resolution programs. The organization provides advocacy services for issues related to divorce, child custody and property settlement. It offers assessment and family and group counseling programs for children and parents. CASA conducts a range of seminars and workshops that addresses topics, such as legal rights, parenting skills and self-esteem. The organization is located in Hagerstown, Md.
