Join one of our support groups of family, friends or persons living with a mental illness to learn first hand the services available to you. Learn how to start a group if one does not exist in your area. Call our Helpline. We are not professional counselors but someone we love does have a mental illness. We understand your challenges and want to help. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with mental illness, their fmailies and communities. That mission is accomplished primarily through the dedication of volunteers sharing their direct life experience. With coruage and compassion they help guide others navigating through treatment and daily living. There are several FREE classes offered by NAMI Tennessee that have proven especially helpful and helpful for people seeking understanding and empowerment. With Hope In Mind This course offers helpful skill-building classes in problem management, communication and crisis planning for those coping with the difficulties associated with caring for adult relatives or friends who are living with mental illness. NAMI Basics This class is designed specifically to help parents and other caregivers of adolescents and children with mental illness. Six workshops ar etaught by trained family members who have children with mental illness. We work collaboratively with agencies and peer support groups to improve mental health services for everyone in the state. We also advocate for services.
