Since 1975, MANNA has worked to end hunger by not only connecting people to immediate food assistance, but by also promoting long term solutions. We sponsor the Child Care Food Program, which provides more than one million nutritious meals to children in family and group day care homes each year. Through our Food Stamp Outreach and Client Advocacy Program, MANNA staff personally assists 400-500 families annually with applying for and receiving food stamp benefits. Outreach also consists of community education, which is done through presentations and material distribution. We reached nearly 25, 000 people with information about food stamp eligibility and other support services in 2006 alone. MANNA does individual client advocacy and administrative and policy advocacy on the federal, state, and local levels around food stamps and welfare policies. MANNA encourages people to use their own voice to influence policies that impact them.
