El Palenque first opened it’s doors in Knoxville, Tennessee on November of 1981. El Palenque’s popularity grew fast and was fueled by the craze for it’s cheese dip and salsa, traditional Mexican dishes, and inviting family atmosphere. The rapid growth and success encouraged El Palenque to move it’s unique traditional flavors to Nashville, Tennessee. During the year of 1988, El Palenque opened it’s first Nashville location on Nolensville Road. I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. The waiter was not attentive, told us that there was not a certain drink when there actually was, brought us the wrong drink, and argued about a meal. There was a communication problem with the waiter and my friend. Instead of trying to fix the problem, the waiter argued with her. My friend even had to point out in the menu what she ordered. When we informed the manager, he did not seem to care. He gave my friend a free coke, and that was it. I encourage anyone who has not gone to never go!
