DAVID L. COOPER is certified as a Civil Trial specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization, and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is licensed to practice law before all Tennessee courts, the Supreme Court of Tennessee, Federal Courts, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Cooper's main practice of law includes personal injury, workers compensation, auto accidents, medical malpractice, employment law, disabilities, discrimination, harassment and criminal defense. Mr. Cooper is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, and the National Employment Lawyers Association. He is a supporter of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee. During law school, Mr. Cooper clerked for Davidson County Criminal Court Judge A.A. Birch (currently a Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court. After graduating he served as an Assistant District Attorney General in Nashville, prosecuting numerous felony cases. Following several years in the D.A.'s office, he joined the law firm of Howell, Fisher and Branham. There he practiced law in the area of insurance defense litigation. He presently is a sole practitioner in the exquisite and historic Third Avenue North Building in downtown Nashville. Mr. Cooper graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law in 1985. He enjoys running, fly fishing and mountain climbing.
