- Renters InsuranceMost people are not aware that their homeowners policy will not cover flood damage. Flood damage is excluded under standard homeowners and renters insurance policies. However, flood coverage is available in the form of a separate policy from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP provides coverage for up to $250,000 for the structure of the home and up to $100,000 for personal possessions. Most policies cost around $500 a year for low-risk areas.
- Home InsuranceSo, you are ready to make some bank on your house and turn your property into an Airbnb most wanted. Don’t assume your homeowner’s policy will cover your new short term rental venture. Your typical home insurance policy will not cover you as a landlord and if you have a landlord policy, it’s not comprehensive enough for what you need as an Airbnb or Vrbo host, so let’s break down what type of coverage you need and your best option for insurance.
- Landlord InsuranceCommercial homeowner’s insurance for vacation rentals vs. Homeowners and Landlord Insurance policies exclude “commercial activity”, which means any property or liability claim could be denied as the result of short-term renting your property.

If you have a spouse, kid, an aging parent, or anyone in your life that depends on you, here are some things to consider on why it's a good idea to invest in life insurance while you’re young.
- Health InsuranceInsurance can be a bit confusing at times. Recently, I was shopping for health insurance coverage and even I got confused researching the plans with all the “fine print”. One of the more puzzling insurance options to explain is coinsurance. Today, I am going to review what it is and how it works.

There is no need to purchase a full business insurance policy if you are only providing services on a short term basis.
- Commercial Liability InsuranceGetting this type of insurance will replace your current homeowner’s policy or landlord’s policy. A short term rental policy will provide you with comprehensive coverage for the building, contents, commercial business liability, and business income. And, it also includes personal liability if the rental property doubles as your primary residence.

- Liability InsuranceIf you’re like me and want something that is both affordable and good coverage, then I suggest an amount that is in between the minimum and maximum. I typically recommend a policy starting at 100/300/100 coverage. With this amount, the insurance company will pay $100,000 for bodily injury, $300,000 for multiple injuries, and $100,000 for property damage. This is a good amount of coverage and is priced at a competitive rate. However, keep in mind, if you want to add an Umbrella Policy to your home and auto, you will be required to get the max amount of auto liability coverage, starting at 250/500/250.
