Brookmeade is an elementary school for children in kindergarten through the fourth grade. It is part of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. All music classes at Brookmeade follow the curriculum guidelines set by the Metro Nashville Music Department. The school follows the discipline based art education approach to teaching art. Its program of reading, guidance and library skills instruction provides students with an appreciation for literature with the fundamental skills necessary for research and independent study. Brookmeade offers up-to-date collection of books, computer software, audio-visual materials and equipment to provide students and teachers with a variety of resources to support the teaching-learning objectives. The school has been a recipient of several awards such as Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, Nortel Institute of Excellence in Education Award, The Mayor's Pursuit of Excellence Award and the Tennessee School Boards Association Award.
