Established in 1892, Amherst Street Elementary School offers educational opportunities for more than 295 students in kindergarten through grade five. It provides classes in art, music, physical education and English. The school offers special education classes for students with learning difficulties. Its classrooms are equipped with computers with Internet access. The school operates band and adventure clubs, as well as a student council. It has a parent-teacher organization that helps in raising the school s funds for playground equipment, field trips and enrichment programs. The school offers before- and after-school programs. It also provides dance, drama, and arts and crafts classes. Amherst Street Elementary School is operated by the Nashua School District, which enrolls more than 12,000 students.
