Founded in 1867, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is a full-service agency that offers services for children, individuals, seniors and families. It offers counseling, adoption, residential treatment, pregnancy education, and foster and child care services. The agency also initiates a program that includes specialized therapy for children and adolescents who experience emotional or behavioral problems. In addition, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois provides a spectrum of services related to alcohol and drug abuse, developmental disabilities, mental health, skilled nursing, and senior and community housing. The agency is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran Network for Justice Advocacy and Metropolitan Chicago Synod. It maintains an office in Nachusa, Ill.
