Not a good experience

I had such high hopes for Dr. Spicer. He seemed well qualified, and very knowledgeable. He gave me a complete and well explained diagnosis. I have a herniated disk C6-7 and need disk replacement surgery. He explained that the weird feelings that I am having in my legs are very serious and could be crippling if I do not have surgery as soon as possible. Well, my appointment with him was on July the 8th (it took 2 months to get an appointment with him) and he did not even sign off the doctor notes until July the 18th. Horrible communication from his staff, they even lied to me about staff calling me back so on. By the time they called me back on the 18th, and I was hoping and praying that it was with the surgery date, the nurse told me that my insurance company does not contract with the hospital he is affiliated with. The pain has gotten excruciating, and has gone from my hands, to my arms, to my legs, not to mention that I am terrified that I will end up crippled before I ever even get my surgery. I had to take off of work twice to go to their office and wait until I could get answers. Today I went there again to pick up my medical notes from the doctor as they would not even fax them to me. Funny, I faxed the notes to UCSD and got an appointment in 1 week. Do not go to him if you have something serious that needs immediate attention. They don't seem to care. Or, they can give you the excuse that they are short staffed as they gave me. Well, in my profession, if we are short staffed, we have to work late and work on weekends. This is someone's life that they are dealing with. I honestly am dumbfounded at the treatment I received.
