General Info
The Hart County Historical Society Museum is located in the 1893 historic Chapline Building at 109 Main Street in Munfordville, KY. The building was built as a general mercantile by Joseph B. Chapline. The structure was built of bricks from the first Hart County courthouse. We are an educational, 501(c)3 organization established in 1968. Our mission is to preserve and share the history and lifeways of Hart County through the education of our audience and development of our heritage resources. Visitors come from many states to view Civil War displays including The General Simon Bolivar Buckner Room and numerous Buckner family artifacts and to conduct genealogy research. Our library contains over 1,200 surname files, census and cemetery books, school records, general history files, images and Civil War books. We also have Gift Shop items & tourism brochures. The Hart County Historical Society Museum is located in the 1893 historic Chapline Building at 109 Main Street in Munfordville, KY.
