General Info
"Heavy Duty" Custom Sewn Made to Order Products for us, usually means something other then lightweight garments, such as polyester stretch, or loose weave materials, found mainly in dresses, shirts, slacks or suits. Our Shop Machinery is only set up for medium to heavy duty materials, and would only damage light weight materials; but we do know many seamstress' who can handle lighter jobs well. We specialize in sewing anything from heavier Canvas, Leather, heavier Mesh Netting, waterproof coated Nylons and polyester materials of different weights and coatings. Dense and Loose weave/knit Dacron, Nylon, polypropylene Webbing. For outdoor recreation use or even safety and industrial applications. We do many Modifications to existing soft side sewn products;; as long as they can fit under the needle plate of our machinery, with no severe right angle next to the presser foot, and not exceed more then 3/8 inch thick, We are often asked if we can sew through leathers.such biker bags, cases etc. and yes we do. We also do a lot of Zipper repairs/replacements on Bib's, coveralls, and coats, jackets, parkas, sleeping bags, hip bags, cases and more. but usually have the client bring in the zipper of choice or order it on-line (we have good sources at reasonable cost) We also do replacement of Snaps, hook & Loop fastener, buckles of all sorts, and custom make many assorted types of strap or leads and tie-down products. We offer prototype-type sewing / fabricating shop expertise of over forty years of being a designer / manufactures of sewn products, and of over thirty years experience serving our Military, Police, S.W.A.T., Security, Disaster Services, Fire/safety/EMS professionals and general Outdoor Enthusiasts. We don't believe in planned or built-in obsolescence; everything and most anything will show fair, ware, and tare over time; but our designs and materials are designed to last for many seasons or even years of regular use with normal expected care and cleaning. . We specialize in Hot Cutting our fusible materials to help ensure the hemmed/ bound edges last longer and better resist seam blow/tear out.We industry standard threads in core-Cotton, Polyester, Nylon, Dacron and Fire Retardant in different weights appropriate to the need. We are a small (tight-spaced) shop and thus choose to work on smaller projects at any one time, but also have sewing associates we can farm out sewing projects to as needed. Our Shop time is $25.00 per hour, per laborer, prorated at .42¢ per minute, plus any materials supplied by; and a design fee be applied as agreed to beforehand for commercial/retail resale for profit designed and manufactured to finish items as may apply Over the years we have developed many good leads for suppliers of materials and fabrication of most any type. We don't apply surcharges to materials brought in by clients. but may have to apply a handling charge if brought in, in bulk by freight that may interfere with our floor / storage available space. But we will make every effort possible to insure your product and goods are safe and secure at all times. The Wife and I are retired and I service connected VA Disabled, and we take a fair amount of time off or gone a lot too. but work in our shop as a hobby to help supplement our retirement years. We Thank You and Yours for considering getting your sewing done through or by us, and we look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon. May The God of all Peace, keep you and yours in all harmony until the time to be caught up together in the air with the Return of Jesus Christ our Lord.

After separating the Army Navy Surplus from this shop, it changed address too. Now 1808 East Jackson St. and is located in the forest green Quonset hut, behind the remodeled and landscaped, sage green home out front that is 1806 East Jackson St.The surplus is now completely gone, but the great sewing services are still available, on a Cash & Carry basis (small bills only), No Cards/Checks of any type, still no bathroom facilities available to the public, gut they did improve the parking, and driveways before separating the shops this last year.Randall & Joyce Jacobsen, have both been going through health issues, and are strictly on an "as available basis" now that Randall is retired, and still undergoing Chemo for Stomach Cancer, and they prefer appointments by calling their home phone, listed in the area phone books. It was hard to recognize the area as I approached it. That, is one amazing transformation that has taken place in this block of Muncie. Still well worth the trip!
This place is become my default to for our household sewing need to be done on every thing from jeans hemming to bag repairs. They just did a few studded post buttons on jeans that had lost them and we had a few pockets backed to reinforce them and sewn back up too. No need to replace if we can get an acceptable job done reasonable and quickly. And they met both in about half an hour.

I have been buying my outdoor Flags from the Army Navy Surplus, and because this shop in co-located with it; they even do "fly end" Re-Stitching if I catch it early enough to have it restitched; usually it has to have no more then a few inches of fraying to make it worthwhile to do.That and we have been taking our Tube Cover that we pull behind the boat to have them repaired when they bust out of their factory stitching...he actually makes them better then new by the time he is done with them. His has never re-torn.The guy has the tools, the skills, the experience and materials at hand to do the work right on the spot. Real fair too.

I have been taking things to this guy for over a dozen years and it has moved around a bit. I like that it is now located inside the Army Navy Surplus now I have the best of both. I can buy a pair of trousers in the surplus and they hem them free of charge right on the spot.Or I can get a holster (ready made type) but the sewing shop modifies for my specific carry, fit, and intended use. I even had one converted to use three different ways. Shoulder, hip, and in the pants conceal carry; and all three are the same holster with conversion rigging. Saved me a bundle for the changing seasons. What can I say? The guy replace my zippers in both legs of my work bib-overalls and that saved me at least $50.00 over the cost of the repairs. So instead of two seasons of use now I am getting at least another two or more seasons of use. I even took the wife's purse in and they redid her shoulder strap, and even had one of the kid's backpack straps and zipper in their book bag fixed.

Of all the surplus shops I have been to in this state; I never found one that had this kind of sewing shop in it...they make everything I could ever want right on the spot. It is like being back in the Army and walking into a Rigger Shack and saying Sarge can you make me a web item that will do this or that...and sure enough they can.Oh Yes you will want to check out this sewing shop inside the Army Navy Surplus.

I needed boot zippers for my EMT boots and I had been told they had them. What they should have told me is they make them in their shop to fit whatever boots you have. It took them just 1 hours and I had a custom fit pair made for my boots. Hole for hole and just the right length and features I would not have thought to ask for. And yes i did have to wait for an hour but where can you get this kind of service that competes with ready made pricing.
I needed hemming to five pair of trousers done and patches sewn on correctly to five duty shirts by 5 PM. the same day, so I could get my new job started in the morning. They did and at no additional charge above the regular charge of $5.00 per pair for hemming and 2 patches sewn on for $5.00. I save an average of $5.00 per set

I needed a custom bag for my Call Out supplies and I stood in wonder as they designed, cut and sewed it while I watched. It still cost me less then if I had ordered from a catalog or Mart type store. Another time he repaired my zipper in my coveralls with out having to replace the zipper or pull and even taught me how to do it. Very inexpensive and very helpful. He does it my way right away, the first time out and stands behind his work.
