bought a used 2006 Toyota Highlander a week ago from a very reputable dealer in Michigan. The SUV was given a comprehensive examination and nothing was wrong. Upon driving through central Indiana, my passenger headlight went out. I called Toyota Scion of Muncie to schedule a quick service check, and was told that it would be $45.00. I brought the car in, they looked it over, and told me that wiring was corroded, had heated up, and caused several hundred dollars worth of damage to surrounding parts, all of which would need to be ordered and replaced.I called my dealer in Michigan, explained the situation, and asked for their opinion. They told me that the diagnosis was completely bogus and that they would take care of it free of charge. Of course, Toyota of Muncie still wanted me to fork over $85.00 to look at the headlight.So I brought the car back to Michigan and my dealer looked it over. What was wrong? a loose connection to the headlight. No corroded wires.
