The Mt. Pleasant Police Department preserves human lives and property, protects public peace and the rights of citizens, prevents crime and disorder and enforces local, state and federal laws. The department operates a citizens police academy that supports and organizes various community outreach and youth programs and events. It has a youth services unit that develops and implements youth safety programs, as well as introduces intervention and interaction techniques to those dealing with youth problems. The department undertakes cases related to burglary, homicide, theft, domestic violence, missing persons, criminal investigation and robbery. In addition, it maintains a records division that is responsible for processing and filing police reports and providing other associated public services. The Mt.
