- MisdemeanorsBrittany Stevens, who taught students in an MISD class Sequoyah Elementary School in Macomb Township, was fired and charged in 2018 with 10 felony charges of second-degree child abuse for alleged act against several children aged 8 to 9 in 2017. The charges were ultimately reduced to four misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, to which Stevens pleaded no contest in August 2019. She was sentenced to two years probation, was ordered to complete an anger-management class, and is barred from teaching minors.
