I absolutely love Glen Grove Equestrian Center. The trainers and staff are wonderful. They have excellent horses. So close to the city! Lessons and showing opportunities for all levels of riders, plus pony rides on the weekends for younger kids.

i absolutely love this place. my daughter boards a here and when we moved from the barn down the street we were told by one of the women at the barn welcome home and thats how i feel now. it is my home away from home as well as my daughters. the people that work there are all very welcoming and they always greet us when i come through the door. all of the girls are very nice, and they always greet me as well as my daughter as we walk down the isle to see our boy. Im just so glad that i found this place

Glen Grove is a fantastic barn, it could use a bit of cleaning up, but we do our best. :)Please consider all of these factors when writing a review.

i love this place! ive been riding there for about 2 yrs now, and i love it. the trainers are all really nice and really funny, ALL of them. OK so i read some of the blogs and i found out that people say they scream... they dont AT ALL! they only scream if the riders being stupid and unsafe and wont stop doing the same thing over and over again. i also like it because they have the best horses and the cutest ponies ever! the only bad part about it is that its old. WAYYYYY BETTER THAN FW!

I've been riding there since I was in 2nd grade (I am now a Junior in highschool), and i love it! the barn its self is a little dirty, but the cute ponies/horses, trainers, and other riders there really make up for it. I would reccoment it over Freedom Woods any day.

i LOVE the ponies! theyre all soo cute! i read that people thin that they dont take care of them well... first theyre outside all the time so when theyre groomed they get dirty all over again, also they clean out the pen 1nce a week, and they get fed too... all i know is that they're adorable and all really cute. also i read that people say that the trainers yell all the time, all i can say is that they only yell when the child is not being safe and when the child doesn't do what they're telling them to do. i personally don't really know what they're talking about, Ive never heard them yell or have ever been yelled at either. the people are all nice and friendly and i really do like the place. the only bad part about it is that its an old barn which makes it kind of dirty, but i really do love the place.

I've taken 5 years of horseback riding lessons at various other places, had my first lesson at Glen Grove and I'm a fan! I had a private 1/2 hour lesson for $40 and loved it. Prior I had taken group lessons at other barns on the southside and it always annoyed me when another rider was slow on the up take of what the instructor wanted and the rest of the class suffered. This was great! My trainer gave me tips while letting me ride at my level. I rode for the full half hour and can't wait to go back next week.

I am very happy with my instructor here. I used to ride Saddleseat and am now learning Hunt Seat. She has been great in providing direction in how to change my form for the new style of riding. I love how detailed she is in correcting my form, this is the most important thing to me. I am not sure how this barn measures up to others, I have only rode at a total of 4 different places, but it looks to be fairly well run. I would say this place is worth a try.

Some people need to understand that hundreds of people walk into these doors every week. I have been riding at Glen Grove for 5 years and have experienced the good and bad. The trainers try their best. If and when they are on the phone, I happen to know for a fact it has to deal with their work at the barn. They are not casting aside your child. The trainers are all very kind, and know what they are doing to make your child a safe and educated rider. The grooms are very funny and nice guys, and also love working with the horses. If a child needs help there are plenty of working students there to help, just as one of us! We're always around and glad to help. Glen Grove has very hard working school horses that are great to learn on. Glen Grove is a fantastic barn, it could use a bit of cleaning up, but we do our best. :) Please consider all of these factors when writing a review.

Came for the pony rides, but was happy to see the rest of the compound. Nice place!

I have only bought sunglasses from them thus far but my conversations and their assistance with a friend of mine (who bought a Triumph from them) tell me they are top notch. Very friendly.

the place is great! the teachers are strict but only because the want the best for the student they are teaching. the teacher that that teaches me is the best because she does her best at getting my favorite horse. Glen grove teaches its students how to tack up, and lead the horse.

A family friend gets private lessons so we were able to observe from afar and walk around the facility. There's an indoor and outdoor riding ring. That indoor one comes in handy unless you want to be riding in 5 ft. snow come winter! They offer a 30 min private session that beginners are encouraged to take before buying the hourly packages. The space surrounding the equestrian facility can be used for picnicking on gorgeous summer days. Lush greens and trees to shade you from the Chicago sun. Beware! The instructors take some of the horses through the trails close to where the picnic goers are.

I love glen grove! i own a horse there and i board there. I came from a barn about a half a mile away from it that didn't treat me well AT ALL! (..freedom woods...) so i was nervous that the same thing was going to happen at GG... not at all! the people are nice and they all treat me well. OK, so some people say that some trainers don't pay attention to them, and scream, but they're all gone, they all left! (I know who they're talking about) and most of the time they "scream" for the riders own good. they only get mad if the rider is doing something unsafe, stupid, or really really wrong and wont stop doing it. I love all of the trainers. theyre unique and really nice. they all train well and make you and your horse a gazillion times better. most people would say that the barn isn't nice.. they only say that because its like 60 yrs old! i love it they're and it would've been really really pretty when it was new. also, some people say that the ponies aren't treated well... i think they'

Glen Grove is a decent facility for being so close to downtown Chicago. There are 90 stalls and multiple businesses being run out of the facility. They have a trainer for people looking to go to larger shows and instructors to teach people doing this once a week. The lesson program is huge with a wide variety of lesson horses. (in response to the other comment...the lesson horses are turned out every day and working students are assigned to them each day to make sure they are groomed and put away properly.) The trainers are organized and provide a training program for each owner/horse. The vet care is also fantastic for both private horses and lesson horses. i recommend this barn if your looking for a convenient and well run place close to downtown.
