- GlaucomaGlaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness. Sometimes called the silent thief of sight, glaucoma can damage your vision so gradually you don’t notice any loss of vision until the disease is at an advanced stage. Because most people with glaucoma have no early symptoms or pain from this increased pressure, it is important to have regular routine eye exams so that glaucoma can be diagnosed and treated before long-term visual loss occurs.

- Laser Eye SurgeryILASIK is a breakthrough laser technology used for improved precision, customization, and safety with LASIK eye surgery. LASIK corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. You could be one of the 1.5 million Americans expected to undergo LASIK this year. In fact, LASIK has become the most popular elective surgery in the country.
- CataractsFloaters are more common in people who are very nearsighted, have diabetes, or who have had a cataract  operation. There are other, more serious causes of floaters, including infection, inflammation (uveitis), hemorrhaging, retinal tears, and injury to the eye.
- Cataract SurgeryCataracts are a very common cause of visual impairment in older adults and are considered an inevitable part of aging. Half of all Americans have cataracts or have had cataract surgery by age 80. In many cases, if a cataract does not seriously affect vision, surgery may not be recommended right away; simply adjusting the current glasses or contact lens prescriptions is the recommended step for those with mild to moderate cataracts. For most, cataracts progress slowly as we age, as does the amount of visual impairment produced by cataracts.

- Diabetic RetinopathyIf you or a family member has diabetes, there is something you should know about your eyes. Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that results from damage to the blood vessels of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. In the beginning stages, diabetic retinopathy may cause no symptoms or only mild vision problems. Eventually, however, it can result in blindness. Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness in adults in the United States.
- UltrasoundThe circular opening then allows the surgeon to access and remove the cataract. In the traditional manual procedure, a mechanical instrument and ultrasound energy are used during this step to break up and take out the lens. With CATALYS®, the laser softens the cataract and breaks it into tiny pieces. The new softening technique allows for more gentle removal by nearly or completely eliminating the ultrasound energy required. This low-energy approach reduces inflammation, with faster recovery expected.
