I visited the Chung Institute last month to get relief with my chronic fatigue, GI issues, and other issues that I’ve been having since my bariatric surgery last year. I sent them over 50 pages of bloodwork and tests that I’ve done since last year. I was set to meet with Dr. Tracy Brobyn. I was excited to try something new. I was interested in trying their oxygen therapy and thought it could help with my chronic fatigue.

When I met her in the office for the consultation; to my surprise, she did not review any of my bloodwork that I sent over. She said “I do not need to review it”. I was surprised at that. Next thing she starts with the “Autonomic Response Testing” and another assistant came in to help. ART testing shows what imbalances and deficiencies are in your body by just measuring your muscle movements. Isn’t that neat? Dr. Brobyn claimed that the ART showed that I had Lyme disease. I thought wow that’s surprising given that I did bloodwork just a few months earlier that showed me completely negative. I do not go outside or anything. She claimed “You can have Lyme disease without it showing up in your blood”. Wow that’s interesting to know. Next, she claimed that I have parasites. I thought Wow that’s another surprise. In January, and in March I did two separate stool analysis, that went to two different labs. (both of which she had in her hand to review), which showed ZERO parasites in my stomach. Dr. Brobyn claimed and I quote “Do you really think parasites will show up in your stool sample? They will move around and hide”.

I have since went back to my primary doctor, and functional medicine doctor and explained to them what they did and they both told me there is NO sound scientific basis for this ART. It is not a proven science and cannot tell you what you have or don’t have in your body. This test basically told me I have Lyme disease and parasites when I have evidence from bloodwork and from multiple doctors that show I don’t.

Next Dr. Brobyn said my 2 tattoos I have on my legs are causing a “body disturbance”. So, she proceeded to do skin injections to help “Rebalance” my body. OK this didn’t take up too much time and was painless. When I saw my functional medicine doctor about this, he said there again is no scientific basis that this does anything to one’s body and don’t know people fall for this.

Next Dr. Brobyn gave me some low dosage immunotherapy. Apparently, some doctors believe if your body has an infection, or has viruses, or bacteria. They think giving the body more viruses, or bacteria can help the body fight off the original viruses/bacteria. My functional medicine doctor said this has no basis in science, and actually giving your body more of something can be very bad for your body and dangerous and shouldn’t be done at all, even in low dosages.

Next, they wanted me to do acupuncture. I told Dr. Brobyn I already tried acupuncture 5 times at another practitioner and it does absolutely nothing for my chronic fatigue. She said “Just do it, it’s included in the consultation”. OK so I did that even though it did absolutely nothing for me.

Finally, I did the “ionic foot bath”. Now let’s debunk this scam. Yes, the foot bath did change colors. But there is absolutely no scientific basis that proves your body is “Detoxing”. Just Google “Ionic foot bath scam” and you can see for yourself. Even the TV show Inside Edition did an exposé on these foot baths and they put 2 foot baths each next to each other. One person put their feet on one unit, and the other unit stayed empty with no feet. Guess what happened? The color in both units turned color. I told my functional medicine doctor this and he just said he could not believe p
