General Info
Welcome to the church of Christ which meets at 2078 Hwy. 425 N in Monticello. We are an undenominational church seeking to know and follow Gods way. Jesus said, I will build my church (Matthew 16:18), and we are trying to follow the Lords way by studying the Bible and accepting it as the inspired Word of God. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16). When you visit with us, you will have the opportunity to participate in a study of the Bible in classes for all ages. Our children are taught from infancy to love and learn the Bible as Gods Word. Our main focus, when we gather to worship each Sunday, is remembering the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the partaking of the Lords Supper (Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29). We sing without the use of mechanical instruments, because God instructs us to Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,(Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16). We spend time in prayer as Paul instructed Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:8. We take up an offering each week to help in spreading the gospel of Christ throughout our community and the world (2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:6-9). We also hear a gospel message preached from Gods Word (Acts 20:7; Ephesians 4:11-13). In our worship to God, we strive in every way to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We believe that we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ (Acts 20:28), and the only way to come into contact with His blood is through the act of baptism (Romans 6:1-4; 1 Peter 3:20-21). We believe that when we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we receive the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38) and are then added to the church, the body of Christ (Acts 2:47; Galatians 26-27), His church (Ephesians 5:23, 29-30).
