The U.S. Department of Interior is a cabinet level agency that manages the natural and cultural resources in the United States. Based in Montgomery, Ala., it utilizes science to manage land, water, wildlife and energy resources. The department manages the water supply for more than 30 million people. The U.S. Department of Interior performs its tasks under eight technical bureaus, including Indian affairs, land management, ocean energy management, regulation/enforcement, reclamation, national park service, surface mining, reclamation/enforcement, U.S. fish and wildlife service and U.S. geological survey.
