General Info

Joseph Huber Brewing of Monroe, Wis., was established in 1845, three years prior to Wisconsin becoming a state. Huber is Wisconsin's oldest continuing brewer and second oldest in the United States. It produces award winning Berghoff, Huber, Wisconsin Club and Rhinelander Beers. Berghoff Solstice Wit Beer is an exquisite beer hand-crafted in the tradition of Belgium s best brewers. It is made using the finest red wheat, two-row malted barley and the most sought-after American hops. It is lightly touched with subtle hints of coriander and Curacao orange. Huber s other products include Blumer's Cream Soda, Blueberry Cream, Orange Cream and Root Beer. During Prohibition, the Huber Brewery produced a popular near-beer called Golden Glow. By 1940, Joe Huber had helped to save the brewery from bankruptcy by organizing an employee stock buyout.

We live here in Monroe area and hadn't taken the tour of new owner facilities. We were very impressed with the tour, progress being made and hospitality. Recommend to anyone living or visiting Monroe, WI.

45 minutes from Madison and Rockford and 90 minutes from Chicago, they offer the best brewery tour in America. A passionate and entertaining tour guide showed us the brewery while it was running. It is great to see how Americans make world class hand crafted beers. The Gift Store is very well priced and stocked. Haydock Brewery Museum, worth over $1 million takes up 3000 sq ft. Allow an extra hour to go through the Museum alone - it is amazing and better than any we have seen, and we have seen quite a few. It was great fun tasting Huber Bock and Lazy Mutt Farmhouse Ale beers with the guide explaining the subtle points of beer recipes and food pairing. Most pleasant surprise was the 6 pack of craft beers we got at the end. We purchased 2 cases of beers at amazing prices and T shirts for my grandkids. Monroe is located in the Green County in Southern Wisconsin and is beautiful. We walked to the the historical square nearby and purchased locally made cheese. Fabulous day.
