Both types of trauma can cause pain and damage to the surrounding muscles, nerves and blood vessels. Casting holds a broken bone in alignment to prevent it from moving while it heals. Casts are made of plaster or fiberglass material. For some fractures, a brace or splint may be used to allow limited movement. Serious bone and joint injuries require the care of a surgeon trained in orthopedic trauma. Dr. Douglas Brown and his staff are experts in caring for all types of fractures and dislocations, as well as sprains and tendon ruptures. Independent Medical Examinations ▬ Dr. Brown is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. Independent Medical Examinations are performed to get an impartial opinion of a person’s clinical status or to determine the extent of accident related injuries. They are conducted at the request of insurance carriers and employers. Dr. Brown evaluates workers compensation, personal injury, and negligence cases. He has been performing IMEs as an orthopedic surgeon since 2004. Pain Relief ▬ IN‐OFFICE PROCEDURES OFFERED BY DR.
