I am extremely unhappy with Smith Mountain Lake Irrigation (aka, SML Irrigation). They installed a sprinkler system for me using a 25 amp pump. The problem is that my house's 20 amp circuit breaker keeps tripping, making the system all but unusable. First, they tried replacing the breaker with a new one; that failed. Then, they suggested replacing the breaker with a 30 amp breaker - definitely a way to burn my house down. After that, they said they would charge me $900 dollars to swich the system over to 220 volts to lower the amps and doing so would have involved stringing unprotected wire around the house under the lava rock in the garden. After I expressed my discontent with the situation, they told me they would replace the 25 amp pump with a 20 amp or lower pump. When I asked why they didn't use a 20 amp pump to begin with, they told me that the 25 amp pump was only $50 more expensive than a 20 amp pump. The problem is not yet fixed as of 8/10/2011 (installed 10/2010).
