The Berkeley County School District is a public school system that operates more than 35 elementary, middle and high schools. It has a combined enrollment of over 27,500 students and employs a work force of nearly 3,700 staff members, including teachers, administrators and support personnel. The school district administers a variety of special programs, such as gifted and talented academic, Special Talent Enrichment Program (STEP) for visual and performing arts, dual credit courses, adult and community learning, and career and technical education, as well as the Gold Pass Program for senior citizens. Located in Moncks Corner, S.C., the Berkeley County School District also supports a range of academic competitions at various levels, athletic activities and extended-day programs for remediation and enrichment
