SAM Americas Inc. is a producer of mold fluxes for the continuous casting of steel. Based in Mogadore, Ohio, SAM caters to major integrated mills and mini-mills across the United States and in Canada. Formerly known as FMP Inc., a company producing custom-formulated mold powders since the mid-1980 s, it was renamed Shinagawa Advanced Materials Inc. (SAM) in 2006. An ISO 9001-2008 certified company, SAM Americas is a partner of Shinagawa Refractories, one of the largest mold powder suppliers in Japan. With its North American production facility at Ohio housing manufacturing systems and a Quality Assurance Testing laboratory, SAM has developed a series of patented continuous casting mold powders.
