St. Pius X School, located in Shawnee Mission, Kan., includes preschool through eighth grade classes. Its students traditionally score in the top 15 percent of schools throughout the nation on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills due to small teacher-student ratios. Students also learn about and celebrate their faith through a variety of activities such as daily religion classes, weekly all-school masses, monthly small group masses, a daily student-led prayer and special emphasis on the various seasons of the Church year. Its students are involved in a variety of activities including spelling bees, math contests, eighth grade play, musical performances, the Science Olympiad, the Miege Quiz Bowl and the Avila Music Festival.
