Minneapolis Community Action Agency, founded in 1994 and located in Minneapolis, is a private nonprofit agency. It offers various services to homeless people, such as weatherization, energy assistance, self-sufficiency, clothing and commodities distribution. Minneapolis Community Action Agency also offers home electric savings program, and children and family development program. Its energy services include financial aid to pay a portion of heating costs, crisis intervention for no-heat situations, energy-related repair for home heating system repair and replacement. Its home electric savings program provides home energy conservation education to more than 750 households annually in the Minneapolis service area, with installation of over 550 new appliances. Minneapolis Community Action Agency additionally provides employment training and classes in budgeting and parenting.
