Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company is a multiple line property and casualty insurer involved in writing personal lines and commercial lines in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. The company was organized in 1891 as Minnesota Farmers Mutual Insurance for the purpose of writing crop and hail insurance for Minnesota farmers. In 1906, the company broadened its operations to include general fire and inland marine lines, automobile and dwelling coverages. The company expanded its product offerings to include homeowners and personal automobile coverages. Its business program covers appliance stores, auto parts stores, bakeries, bookstores, floor covering stores and funeral homes. Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company is headquartered in Minnetonka, Minn.
