Productions, exceptional...amenities, lacking

Much ado was made when this esteemed theater made it's move from it's Vineland location, adjacent to the Walker Art Center & across from the Sculpture Garden to their new riverfront digs. The results? Pretty lousy. The old theater had numerous aisles, therefore MANY more aisle seats. The new locale has cut down on the aisles, and in doing so has made the previously delightful experience of attending a play into an unpleasant one. Most of the Guthrie patrons are older, but it seems as though the current design is meant to put them off. It's perplexing, as the younger playgoers in the Twin Cities do not have the money to see plays here. & the original space desinged by local architect Ralph Rapson? This time it's designed by a frenchman. No capable architects here, I suppose...
