- Dental ExaminationThere are many benefits to maintaining a healthy mouth, such as the prevention of heart disease. Without routine dental care, plaque builds up on your teeth and gums and can lead to periodontal disease, making you more vulnerable to heart disease, clogged arteries, and even strokes. The bottom line is that good oral care is imperative to your overall well being. Be sure to come see us at least every six months to ensure that your oral health is at its best. Comprehensive exams and digital X-rays are usually covered 100% by your insurance.
- X-raysDental x-rays or radiographs are very important. They allow the dentist to detect problems that cannot be seen by the naked eye. These items include: loss of bone supporting the teeth (periodontal disease), cysts (sacks of fluid that form on the roots of teeth), cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, decay that occurs between teeth, and the location of teeth that haven't yet erupted into the mouth.

- Dental SealantsNormal pits and grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth can trap food that can't be removed by brushing or washed out by water or saliva. A sealant is a tough, plastic material designed to bond (stick) to tooth enamel. These clear or tooth colored sealants are painted onto the tooth surface to "seal" the pits and grooves and protect against decay. They are generally applied to children's first permanent back teeth. They can also be useful for adults in certain situations.
- FillingsPeople who are advised to avoid getting new amalgam fillings or having existing ones removed or replaced (where possible) include...
- Resin CompositeThere are a few materials that are commonly used for fillings. We mostly use for the composite resins (white fillings) now to match with your tooth color. The other type of material is amalgam (silver metallic filling).
- VeneersVeneers are often referred to as "laminates" too. Veneers require very minimal removal of tooth structure and they are placed by bonding them permanently to the front of the teeth. We use E4D to make the veneer in the office. The quality is better and the color can fine tuned to match with your current teeth color.
- CrownsDental crowns, also referred to as tooth crowns or caps, are restorations that are placed over teeth to deal with trauma or decay. San Jose dentist Dr. Jessica Nien may recommend tooth crowns for various reasons.
- BridgesA dental bridge spans the gap where a missing tooth once was, filling the space with a synthetic tooth. Like a bridge over a river, most dental bridges need support at either end, although cantilever bridges are an exception. Fitting a bridge requires reshaping the abutment teeth and capping them with crowns to hold the bridge securely.
- Dental Bonding
- Root Canal Treatment80% of the cost of restorative treatments like fillings and root canals is covered by your insurance. These are basic dental treatments to get your teeth back to great dental health.
- Deep CleaningDeep teeth cleaning becomes necessary when you're beginning to have gum disease, gingivitis. Gum disease causes breakdown of the bone, and eventually causes the loss of teeth. Deep cleaning uses a procedure called "root planing". Root planing is the process of smoothening the root surfaces and removing any infected tooth structure.
- DenturesIf you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay, or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. You’ll be able to eat and speak—things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost.
- Dental ImplantsDental crowns can also be used in combination with other dental structures such as bridges and dental implants to restore complete strength and beauty to your smile. For example teeth crowns can also be part of a bridge when two neighboring teeth are given crowns to hold the replacement tooth.
- Oral Surgery
- Gum SurgeryA good dental health plan usually covers preventive treatments like exams and teeth cleaning twice a year. This also covers exams and x-ray. These are super important, because if you really do these every year, chances you won't have to spend big bucks on expensive procedures like root canal, implant or gum surgery.
- Tooth ExtractionsSome teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. We try really hard to save your tooth. Taking it out is not the best option.
- OrthodonticsUnlike traditional braces, few people will even know you're wearing Invisalign. That's because each aligner is nearly invisible. So you can have the confidence you need while looking great at work, at school, and with friends. It's a new type of orthodontics, helping you look good now to look great in the future!
- Invisalign OrthodonticsThe average invisalign course of treatment takes about a year. During that time, you will change to a new set of aligners every two weeks. Each set of aligners gently moves your teeth one step closer to their optimal position until you develop a beautiful, healthy smile.
- BracesInvisalign straightens teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible, custom-molded aligners. These aligners replace the metal wires and brackets. And, unlike metal braces of the past, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth.
