Initially setting her sights on becoming a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Politano changed her mind when she began performing complex C-sections and hysterectomies. Passionate about womenâ??s healthcare, she especially loves the challenges these types of surgeries and high-risk obstetric patients present â?? not surprising when you consider that she earned a bachelorâ??s and masterâ??s degree in civil and structural engineering before she went to medical school. Working in womenâ??s healthcare not only satisfies her need for surgical and intellectual challenges but presents her with an opportunity to provide continuity of care, often absent in other surgical specialties.
