Founded in 1994, Downey Engineering Corp. is a full-service marine consulting firm. Based in New Orleans, La., it provides naval architecture, structural design and analysis, drafting, project management and production field support. The firm caters to vessel owners, operators, service providers and shipyards of the commercial, pleasure craft, military and offshore oil/gas segments of the marine industry. Downey Engineering Corp. uses a variety of design and management tools, such as AutoCAD 2008, NavCAD, ShipConstructor and MultiSurf, among others.
