Duped again!!! Thought I'd give it another shot and they failed. This time I came prepared and brought my own change. Little did I know there menu prices have gone up $1 across the board on all food items. Kinda saw that coming.
Well this time the bill was $8.65 so I left $10.75. I'm sure you can guess what I got in return. Yup, $2. WTF. You could have at least given the quarter back. Do they not get it. Sorry waitress for only leaving you a dollar, but next time you'll get nothing.
Next time I'm leaving nothing.
One of my favorite places to catch some good quick mexican.
But the staff has a bad way of not giving you the correct change. I eat there almost every week and can stop in for a quick, inexpensive lunch just about everyday. But 9 out of 10 times the server does not give me the right change.
Here it is, I'll get the #11 and a glass of water for lunch, the total for my bill is $7.56 which I'll pay with a $10 and go. A $2+ tip for a lunch that quick and good, I'm happy to leave. But pay with a $20 and you'll only get $12 back. Some people say ""oh it's only change"" well what if I decided to only pay $7 for my meal that cost $7.56?
If you are going to charge people for a meal you should respect your patrons and treat them honestly.
Like I said this has happened to me anytime I have waited for the change.
Management, if you don't provide change for your employees this might be your fault. I'd like to say you might not know this is going on but it happens so frequently that I can not be the only one to say something.
It's hard to stop visiting because you have a good product at a good price but how many people get short changed everyday.
I'd like to continue visiting but if I stiffed the server everytime they ripped me off then how could I trust my food to not be tainted with when I visit.
What a shame.
We are a dance group that goes there every Wednesday night to listen to the incredible band Sensation that plays from 7-10. Problem is - it's so hot when dancing; there's no air near the band and the only air vents are by the tables so, we dance around the tables, miserably. This past week though, there were about 30 of us there for a birthday party. The air wasn't even working so, our families and friends at the tables, that weren't even dancing, were sweating and miserable while dining. This is a great venue and important to the Latin community - please please please spend the time and money and get the a/c fixed. Otherwise, the Mango Margaritas are incredible and there is an avocado shrimp ceasar salad that is delicious!
This is the best mexican food in New Orleans PERIOD DOT COM. The service is un-matched in this city due to the awesome management of Aberto. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
I would bet that the owners of this place used to work at Taco Bell. Their beef tacos, burritos, and enchiladas all have the same ground beef with the same flavor as Taco Bell. This is a joke on people who don't know any better. For the money I paid for a taco, burrito, and an enchilada I could have fed half of Metarie. Save your money and go to Taco Bell instead. I'm not kidding! It tastes like Taco Bell. Try Casa Garcia or Superior Grill.
We dined at Carreta's Grill last night and I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior in a resturant. I have worked in the industry for 14 years and I was really dissapointed with our service. We had a party of 12 or so and I asked the waiter to please split the tickets off three ways. He explained that with large parties they could not. He crudely responded that the policy was listed on the front door. Well, that is all good and fine but when the ticket came there was a problem. People couldn't tell exactly how much they owed and estimated and estimated badly! Needless to say My husband and I got stuck with a 70 remaining balance and we had only eaten about 40 dollars worth of food. Then to make matters worse the server returns to the table and asks where his tip is. We had not even left the table yet and some of the party had not even finished eating. I thought it was unprofessional and rude. Needless to say we will not be returning! Oh, and the food was just ok.
This place is NOT authentic -- the food is TERRIBLE, service worse and I have no idea why anyone who choose to eat here vs. the hundreds of other wonderful restaurants in the New Orleans area. Don't waste your time - I wouldn't feed my dog the food they serve in this place. Find a local ""taco truck"" for the real deal for under $5
cheap, good service, authentic (i think)
the lunch menu is great, the fajitas are awesome, family run
Family owned and operated, Food is the best in town at all locations, Quick service, Fast seating, awesome,.. best in town
Carrettas must have the best Margaritas I have ever tasted. The cheese dip is to die for and the way the servers bring out the food is jaw dropping. A must for a good time, great family place as well as a fun hang out spot to let loose.
Absolutely delicious! My family and I eat at Carreta's at least twice a month, sometimes more. It's a family friendly place- don't be afraid to take your kids there, everyone else does!! I expecially love the chimichangas, but my husband is stuck on the steak burrito con queso. Our kids love the quesadillas. The cheese dip is fantabulous!! (Is that a word?) The prices are reasonable. Parking can be a problem if you go at their peak hours. My only complaint is that they're closed on Monday's.
Moved to New Orleans from Mexico for a job and had a hard time finding a place with good mexican food - then I found Carreta's. Carreta's has managed to create a very similar restaurant experience as one would have in Mexico, except the service. In Carreta's defense, the night I was there there were a lot of people, nonetheless, I was not happy with the amount of time it took for my server to bring my food and drinks. Additionally, I did not appreciate the extra charge when I requested for more tortillas. Que onda con eso, no chingues.
I found my first trip to Carretas to be a very enjoyable experience. Though my wife and I had a twenty minute wait, it was well worth it. Carreta's has good service and a very comfortable atmosphere. Unlike many other restaurants that I have been to, it is also very clean.
The food, especially the Chili Relleno, was excellent. Also, I found the prices to be very reasonable. There is also plenty of parking. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Carreta's somewhere around a nine. In other words, I highly recommend it.
I love this restaurant. It is now the only place my family will go to eat mexican food. The food is excellent and service is fast during the lunch hours. I love that you can choose one item and not a full plate to save on cost. The cheese dip is the best in the city, no others come close. I also like their live music. A great place to hang out with friends.
